Graphite Gland Packing is a premium high-temp/pressure seal (expanded graphite + Inconel 625 wire). Binder-free, low outgassing (<1×10⁻⁹ Pa·m³/s). Meets ASME BPVC III, API 682, ISO 15797. Standard (5mm-20mm) and custom (up to 60mm) cross-sections, 3/5m spools.

Temperature Performance: Continuous 450℃ (oxidizing), 600℃ (inert); short-term 700℃. Oxide layer extends life by 50%.
Thermal Conductivity: 12 W/(m·K) – 3x PTFE, 2x aramid; cools shafts by 15-20℃.
Pressure Rating: Up to 35MPa (static), 25MPa (dynamic) – exceeds carbon fiber.
Chemical Resistance: Resists acids/alkalis/solvents/molten salts; only fails with strong oxidizers.
Wire Reinforcement: Inconel 625 (Ni-Cr-Mo-Nb) – tensile strength ≥200MPa, no extrusion.
Power Generation: Boiler feed pumps (350℃, 15MPa), turbine valves (450℃, 25MPa), nuclear auxiliaries.
Oil Refining: Hydrocracker pumps (400℃, 30MPa), distillation column valves.
Nuclear Industry: Primary coolant pumps (borated water), spent fuel pool valves (ASME BPVC III).
Chemical Processing: Autoclave agitators (350℃, 20MPa), chlor-alkali electrolyzer seals.
Ceramic anti-oxidant coating (up to 450℃): 90% lower oxidation (0.5% vs. 5% weight loss/1000h), life 6→18 months. Use nitrogen purging >450℃.
Rotating: 2.5 m/s (150 RPM for 100mm shaft); 50% life loss per 0.5 m/s over.
Reciprocating: 0.5 m/s (30 strokes/min, 100mm stroke).
Hybrid (graphite + PTFE outer layer) handles 3.5 m/s; use Ra0.4μm shafts.
Yes:
Run at 50% load for 4h (20% compression).
Keep temp <90℃; adjust load if over.
Increase to 100% load, reduce compression to 15%.
Skip = uneven sealing (0.5-1.0 vs. <0.1 ml/min) and 30% shorter life. Static applications: no break-in.
